Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Frain Genealogy is a personal, non-commercial family history project. Family history is, by its nature, information about real people — so this page explains what this site publishes, what it deliberately does not, and how to ask us to change or remove something.

Living People

We take the privacy of living relatives seriously and follow the customary genealogical practice of limiting what is published about them.

Removing or Correcting Your Information

If you are a living person listed on this site — or the parent or legal guardian of a listed minor — you may ask us to correct, restrict, or remove your entry. We honor these requests; you do not need to give a reason.

Please note that once information has been published on the internet, copies may persist in search engine caches, web archives, or on other genealogy sites beyond our control. We can only change what appears on this site.

Deceased Individuals

Records of deceased individuals are published in full, including dates and places of birth, marriage, and death, along with research notes and source citations. If you believe a record about a deceased relative is inaccurate or contains information that should not be public, please let us know.

Photographs and Documents

Photographs, scanned documents, and other images are posted only where we believe we have the right to do so and where publication is appropriate. If you appear in a photo, hold the copyright to an image, or object to an item being posted, contact us and we will remove it.

Information We Collect From Visitors

Browsing this site is anonymous. There are no visitor accounts, no registration, no newsletter sign-up, and no forms that ask you for personal information.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies for ordinary visitors. A single sign-in cookie is issued to site administrators when they log in to maintain the database; it expires after eight hours and is used solely to keep them signed in. It contains no personal information about visitors and is not used for tracking.

Children

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them. Children who appear in the family tree are covered by the living-person protections described above. A parent or guardian may request removal of a child’s entry at any time.

Accuracy and Sources

Genealogical records are compiled from census returns, vital records, published histories, church and cemetery records, and information contributed by family members. Errors and conflicting accounts are inevitable. Nothing on this site should be treated as a legal or official record, and corrections are always welcome.

Use of Material From This Site

The research here is shared freely for personal and family history use. Please do not republish material about living people, and please do not use this site’s contents for commercial purposes or to compile mailing or marketing lists.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and the administrative area that allows changes to the database is password protected. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information entrusted to us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The revision date at the top of this page will always show when it was last modified.
